“Wings of the Sky” International UAV Expo 2016 will take place at the Zhuhai International Convention & Exhibition Center from Nov 3 to 6, according to an Oct 18 press announcement.
This will be the city’s first international-level expo for unmanned aerial vehicles, says Xie Feng, executive chairman of the Aero Sports Federation of Zhuhai. Seventy enterprises, representing most domestic UAV models, will participate. The latest UAV types, technologies and support services from home and abroad, integrative displays, communications, performances, competitions, and simulation experiences are on the agenda.
Since the event coincides with Airshow China 2016, spectators can take free shuttle buses to the UAV performances and control a UAV in person after viewing aerobatic performances by piloted aircraft at the Airshow Center, Xie added.
The 2016 Aviation Culture Carnival meanwhile will have competitions in adolescent painting, UAV photography, college student aviation creative designs, model airplane performance, indoor fancy flights, and UAV amateur flying. Locals are encouraged to apply for the competitions so as to promote aviation know-how.
A highlight of the expo will be the first domestic logistics UAV developed by Shenzhen Smart Drone UAV. Its wing span is about 1 m and its load of 5 kg provides SF-Express service between distribution outlets, even carrying unusual commodities or operating in special environments. Some logistics UAVs will also be on display, according to general manager Jin Liang.
Guided by the Air Traffic Control Center of the General Administration of Sports of China and the Aero Sports Federation of China, the expo is sponsored by the Chinese Society of Aeronautics & Astronautics (Guangdong), Aero Sports Federation of Zhuhai, and China UAV Industry Alliance.
